About us

The Vidi project "Living on the Other Side" examines the rights of migrants in Morocco, focusing on family law. This legal anthropological research studies how Morocco handles family-related life events of migrants from West-Central Africa and the Middle East. Morocco is a key player in EU migration negotiations and an emerging destination country.

The project analyzes how the Moroccan state regulates these events and how migrants deal with them, looking at the application of religion-based family law to non-citizens. This innovative research contributes to a better understanding of migrant rights in North Africa and fills an important gap in legal anthropology and migration studies.
