In academic research, there are typically four main stages: study design, data collection, analysis, and writing results. However, the reality is more complex, with challenges like unpredictable transitions between phases and the significant logistical and personal impacts.
To address this, we've expanded our framework to include administrative tasks and personal impacts, aiming to provide a more realistic portrayal of the research process.

A long shower calms me down. I needed one after the interview with Tabaan and Javed. My head was spinning and my heart was pounding in my throat.
Only a few months into my fieldwork, Morocco suddenly closed its borders. I could stay, but that meant overstaying my visa. Return to the Netherlands? But I had sublet my apartment there. The whole situation left me with two pressing questions: where could I stay, and what would happen to my research?
